The Greens today finalised the postal ballot count to determine the Senate tickets for the next Federal Election.

Three candidates were pre-selected for the next half Senate election and a second ballot determined four candidates for a possible double dissolution election, which now seems unlikely.

The sitting Greens NSW Senator Lee Rhiannon did not contest the half Senate ballot since she would not be required to face an election should a normal half Senate election be held when the next election is due.

Pre-selected Candidates are as follows:

Half Senate Election

  1. Cate Faehrmann
  2. James Ryan
  3. Mehreen Faruqi

Two candidate preferred margin: Cate Faehrmann 57%; James Ryan 43%

Double dissolution election

  1. Lee Rhiannon
  2. Cate Faehrmann
  3. Mehreen Faruqi
  4. James Ryan

Two candidate preferred margin: Lee Rhiannon 69%; Cate Faehrmann 31%

All positions are subject to ratification by the Greens State Conference in  June 2012
