Greens members and supporters are invited to apply for the job of Local Government Campaign Coordinator. The position works cooperatively with local Green Groups with the aim of electing Green candidates to Councils across NSW.
The successful applicant will have the following abilities:
• a demonstrated commitment to the Greens and the advancement of their policies and principles,
• respect for the grass roots democratic organisational structures of The Greens NSW,
• a detailed knowledge oflocal government and NSW political issues and the Local Government electoral system,
• proven capacity to coordinate a political and or substantial public interest campaign, preferably an election campaign;
• the ability to work with and coordinate a team of paid and volunteer workers to undertake a range of tasks
• skills in dealing with media and online campaigning,
• excellent written communication skills, and
• demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
Location
The State Campaign Coordinator will be based at the Greens NSW office 19 Eve St Erskineville.
Pay and conditions
The position is for a period of 6 months being 3 months part time and 3 months full time. Remuneration is approx. $56 - 60,000 pa with 9% superannuation four weeks per annum annual pro rata.
Applicants need to be able to start in early March. The position finishes in September.
Responsibilities of the successful applicant
The Local Government Campaign Coordinator will have responsibility for implementing the Greens NSW 2012 Local Government election campaign and in particular will –
1. Implement the campaign strategy as determined by the Local Government Election Campaign Committee (LGECC).
2. Work with the Local Government Election Campaign Committee (LGECC) and local Greens groups.
3. Coordinate paid and volunteer campaign workers to carry out the specific tasks of the campaign.
The specific tasks of the campaign coordinator will include
• overseeing the work of paid and volunteer campaign workers,
• managing the development of campaign communication materials including:
• online campaign and social networking,
• production and distribution of election materials,
• the development and placement of advertising materials.
• working with the existing Councillors and new council candidates, and
• ensuring close co-operation with targeted lower house campaigns.
The campaign coordinator will oversee and coordinate
• the media work of the statewide campaigns
• work with local groups,
• Greens NSW campaign finances,
• the orderly operation of the campaign office,
• wrap up, including the tidying up of the Erskineville office, archiving campaign materials and the website, and
• the writing of the final report for the SDC.
Accountability
The successful applicant will be accountable to LGECC, and the LGECC is accountable to the Greens NSW State Delegates Council.
