The NSW community is under siege from mining and gas exploration that seems to have no bounds. Today there is not a single place in NSW where you can live and be guaranteed mining and gas development will not be allowed.
Jeremy Buckingham will introduce the Responsible Mining (Protecting Land, Water and Communities) Bill into the Parliament to protect our land, water and communities. It is a response to the demands of the NSW public to bring an end to the failed adaptive management and co-existence strategies of successive Governments who have allowed mining and coal seam gas to encroach on our agricultural lands, communities and environment and to put our water supplies and health at risk.
Jeremy will need your support to make this bill law and will be touring the state over the rest of 2012 to continue to build the movement and support for no-go zones where mining and gas development simply should not be allowed. If you would like Jeremy to visit your community please get in touch with the office on 9230 2202.

The bill would also empower local councils to prohibit extractive industries like coal mining and coal seam gas by amending their Local Environment Plans. You can read more about the bill here.
