Climate change means the way we live has to change. The Greens want that change to mean a cleaner, more sustainable and fairer way of life.
Neighbourhoods across the country are coming together to work out how they are going to tackle climate change and are finding surprising benefits.
From growing veggies on the nature strip, to walking together to school, the Greens want healthier and smarter ways to live.
Instead of designing our cities for dirty cars, why not for how we would like to live?
Fast, efficient public transport would take the hassle and stress out of getting to work. Fewer cars on the roads will reduce pollution and clean up the smog. A network of cycleways around our towns will make riding a bike fun and safe. Kids would be able to ride to school, getting fit at the same time.
Neighbourhoods are already getting together to organise renewable, reliable, clean sources of energy. Solar panels are going up on community buildings all over NSW, instead of burning more dirty coal. Greens on local councils are acting to reduce waste and harness the passion and innovation in their community to move towards using clean energy.
People are coming together to talk about how to grown their own food. Local parks, schools and even nature strips are being planted with delicious fresh fruit and vegetables that the whole street can enjoy and share.
The time to act is now to ensure the worst consequences of climate change can be avoided.
We can leave future generations a cleaner, greener world that is a better place to live.
