ACTUALLY... WE WANT A PROGRESSIVE UPPER HOUSE
The Greens agree that the possibility of a conservative-dominated Upper House is a real concern.
However recommending Greens preferences flow to Eric “Private Electricity” Roozendaal or Tony “Barangaroo” Kelly, 1 and 5 on the Labor Upper House ticket, is not an option either.
In NSW the Labor party has dug itself into a hole with 10 years of poor social policy, and turning their backs on the people of NSW. It is not our responsibility to keep Labor in office, but it will be our responsibility to hold the next Government to account. We say the best way to get a maximum number of progressive voices in the Upper House is to Vote 1 Green.

The Greens have a strong track record when it comes to protecting the environment, because we believe that everyone has the right to live in a safe, happy and clean community.
We stand by this principle in every one of our 54 State policies, including health, education, the economy, housing, energy, planning and regional NSW.
We are about improving people's lives. Who could disagree with that?
THEY SAY THE GREENS LACK ECONOMIC CREDENTIALS
ACTUALLY... WE PLAN FOR A SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY
The Greens offer Australians a long-term plan for their economy, one that goes beyond election cycles and the vested interests of big business.
Clean energy is the future, and we believe it is essential to prioritise the growth of renewable energy. We will encourage sustainable investment and innovation which will lead to the creation of new sustainable jobs for Australian workers, and make NSW competitive in the low carbon economy.
In the federal parliament, the Greens amended and supported the economic stimulus package which kept Australia out of recession, kept Australians in jobs, and gave a better deal to low income households.
THEY SAY THE GREENS WANT TO STOP FISHING
ACTUALLY... WE WANT SUSTAINABLE FISHING
The Greens want to make sure that recreational fishing is sustainable by creating marine parks. These will give fish a safe place to breed and grow, helping to preserve marine life and the right to fish for future generations.
Ultimately we all want the same thing, plenty of fish in the sea.

ACTUALLY... IT IS THE BEST CHOICE YOU CAN MAKE
A Greens vote is never wasted. A vote for the Greens is a vote for - real climate action, fairness, the protection of public assets and services, and sustainability in planning and transport.
The Greens are Australia's third biggest party, with 10 federal MPs, 24 state MPs and 152 Greens councillors across Australia, and they were all elected because of voters like you.
If the Greens candidate you vote for is knocked out of the race, your vote is transferred to your next preference at full value.

ACTUALLY... IT WILL BENEFIT FAMILIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT
The Greens NSW fully support the carbon tax on polluting industries. It is an efficient way to cut pollution and a good first step towards directing investment to build a sustainable economy.
In NSW households energy bills are already increasing due to the Governments $17.9 billion a year spend on coal powered infrastructure. We say that this is money that should go towards building NSW’s new sustainable energy industry.
Studies have shown that for every dollar we invest in energy efficiency, a whopping $4 is put back into household pockets. By incentivising investment in sustainable energy, we can reduce energy bills, and carbon emissions - a win for households and the environment.
By comparison the Coalition supported “Direct Action plan” will cost households around $720 each year by 2020, while encouraging growth in polluting infrastructure.

THEY SAY THE GREENS WANT TO LEGALISE ALL DRUGS
ACTUALLY... WE TAKE A COMMON SENSE APPROACH
The Greens do not support the legalisation of all illegal drugs, instead we take a harm-minimisation approach to drug use. While continuing to prosecute the real villains; drug dealers.
This is endorsed by a number of health and legal professionals, and is the most effective way to protect the community from the negative social effects of drug use.
In NSW we’ve walked the talk on this issue through our continued support of the Kings Cross injection centre. The centre has reduced the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C by stopping the sharing of dirty needles, it has also reduced drug-related crime in the Kings Cross area.
THEY SAY THE GREENS WANT TO TAKE MONEY AWAY FROM INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS
ACTUALLY... WE WANT ALL CHILDREN TO HAVE A GOOD EDUCATION
We believe that all Australian children deserve a high quality public education system.
The Greens support the Governments promised review into schools funding, and agree with many educational experts that the current federal schools funding model is flawed. We welcome a constructive debate on school funding to ensure an equitable funding model that meets all students is implemented.
