Barwon
Darren Bodell
Greens candidate for Barwon
Darren is a Greens candidate because he knows The Greens have the courage to
stand up for what is right and policies that reflect what society needs.
In the Barwon electorate, Darren is concerned about climate change, water issues, mental health access, youth self-esteem, funding of Public schools, workers rights - in particular for young rural people and Aboriginal health, housing and educational opportunities.
“I am particularly concerned about Welfare and Social Justice issues, which has made society become less compassionate in the last ten years, mainly due to the negative influence of the Howard Government.
“I was a former member of the ALP but left due to becoming increasingly frustrated with their increasing attempts to try to compete with the Liberal Party in areas such as values and security.
“The National Party have neglected the west for a very long time and take the voters for granted and treat them with contempt. I will become a real voice and fighter for the people of this unique electorate.”
Darren is new to the Community (6 months) and works as Head Teacher Mathematics at Moree Secondary College. He has previously lived and taught in Sydney, Broken Hill, Hay and Kingscliff. Darren is single and 34 years of age.
