Kogarah
Therese Bolt
Greens candidate for Kogarah
Therese Bolt will be campaigning strongly for increased funding for public education. As a teacher she has seen first hand the deterioration in the resourcing of public schools and TAFE.
“I strongly supports the Green’s renewable energy policy as a way to reduce greenhouse gases immediately, and not in the distant future when it may be too late to reverse the changes.
After moving to the area five years ago Therese has been actively involved in the local community. She is currently Secretary of the St. George Greens and was an inaugural member when the local branch was formed. Therese has been involved with the running of state and local council election campaigns. She worked on the campaign to elect Lesa de Leau to Rockdale Council, and supports Lesa’s strong stance against developer donations to political parties.
Therese is an active member of the Australian Plant Society, and has been involved in various community tree plantings with the society and with Kogarah High. She has also run the Streamwatch program at Kogarah High for three years to encourage student awareness of environmental issues.
She has been a member of the Wilderness Society for 20 years, and worked as a volunteer with the Wollongong branch during the campaign to save the Deua wilderness near Moruya on the far south coast of NSW. Therese is a volunteer with the Community Visitors Scheme set up to support elderly people in the local community.
