I was initially drawn to the Greens by the strong policy stance on environmental conservation, climate change, refugees, human rights, education, marriage equality, animal welfare and renewable energy.
I have lived in Wentworth for 14 years. For nine of those years I have been engaged to my partner.
I continue to wait for the day I am legally allowed to marry the person I love.
As a nation we continue to wait for our billionaires to be taxed fairly.
Thousands of men, women and children in detention continue to wait for our leaders to show compassion.
The international community also continues to wait for us to meet our obligations in regard to climate change, and make binding legislation in regard to renewable energy and carbon emissions.
Our nation, and indeed our planet, does not have the time and luxury to wait for an unlikely change of heart from the conservative side of politics. For those wanting a politician of conviction, and a truly progressive member for Wentworth, now is the time to vote Green.
I urge the people of Wentworth to vote Green on Election Day, both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate.
